William fforde
Editor of Beckenham, an Oxford-educated classicist and organ scholar, William has been a student of golf course design and restoration for almost sixty years. A member of the Royal Photographic Society, he is a part-time designer & restorer of, and writer about, golf courses, often working alongside course designer Greg Turner, the former NZ tournament player, and/or Scott Macpherson, another leading golf course architect and author.
In 2001, together with Allen Lowe as their chairman (now retired), William & Greg founded Beckenham as a specialist publisher of golf design books, magazines and images, as well as a golf design consultancy.
Over more than three decades, William has photographed some 600 courses, researching and publishing The Pocket Guide to Golf Courses series — covering countries including Spain, Portugal, the UAE, India, the Czech Republic and Ireland — alongside The Player's View series.
