Our golf course rating system is from The Pocket Guide to Golf Courses, acclaimed as ‘easily the best golf guide’*.
Facility rating system
ΩΩΩΩΩ – exceptional, including hotel standard accommodation
ΩΩΩΩ – first class, with all the facilities a golfer might reasonably expect
ΩΩΩ – good, with most facilities a golfer might reasonably expect
ΩΩ – adequate for golfing requirements
Ω – basic for its purpose
Course design rating system
*** – a course whose design is worth crossing the world to play
** – a course whose design is worth crossing a continent to play
* - a course whose design is worth crossing a country to play
Î – a course generally (but not always) with the potential for elevation to a * rating
Hole design rating system
Green – a hole of strong design quality
Yellow – a hole of average design quality
Red – a hole of weak design quality
Purple – a hole of unusual or particular historical interest
Gold – a hole whose design is so good that it is worth playing the whole course just to play that hole
Price Guide (using local currency symbol, or $ if no single symbol)
€ – Low (under €50)
€€ – Moderate (€50-€100)
€€€ – High (€100-€200)
€€€€ – Expensive (over €200)
